We were spending one third of our weaving wages for electricity (24 hrs working so the power consumption is high) and one third of weaving wages for Labour wages (Two 12 hrs shift) and with the balance one third of the weaving wage only we were taking care of maintenance in this case we were not even able to get the bank interest rate for our investments

All these reasons were taking this sector out of track at that time Tamilnadu government provided special sector discounts on  electricity which helped the Coimbatore and Tirupur districts Power loom owners to get back on track.

As per Associations request here is the list of electricity bill discounts provided to us

  1994 - Our cluster of Power loom Owners were included to small scale industries from large scale industries. Then Hon Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha provided Rs.9 crores discount per annum on electricity bill through Tamilnadu govt.

  2002 – Once again according to our request, Then Hon Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha provided Special sector tariff and Rs.11.2 crores discount per annum on electricity bill through Tamilnadu govt.

  2006 - Then Hon Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha provided Rs.36.73 crores discount per annum on electricity bill through Tamilnadu govt and brought back the sector on track

  2007 - Then Hon Chief Minister M.Karunanithi provided 250 units free electricity power per month through Tamilnadu govt which helped in saving the sector.
