POWERLOOM ASSOCIATION
Coimbatore District Job Working Powerloom Unit Owners’ Association, Somanur was started in the year 1990 after a rapid growth over these 22 years now we are huge with
- * More than 10000 members
- * More than 2 lakh power looms(Includes normal Power Loom to Semi Automatic Power loom)
- * One shed can withhold 10 to 24 Power Loom weaving machines.
- * Manufacturing width of 56” to 72”
- * Yarn counts used from 16s to 60s
- * 90% of the weavers are working on job order basis and the rest 10% are doing job orders and also own fabric business
- * But 50% of the members are ready to go with own fabric business if at all they get direct orders
Achivements
- 2006
- Then Hon Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha provided Rs.36.73 crores discount per annum on electricity bill through Tamilnadu govt and brought back the sector on track.
- 2007
- Then Hon Chief Minister M.Karunanithi provided 250 units free electricity power per month through Tamilnadu govt which helped in saving the sector.
